Standard fees:

$100 to $130 per 50 minute session. Reduced rates may be available for some circumstances.

Accepted payment types:

We accept cash and checks and we collect payment at the end of each session. We also can process a credit card with a processing fee ($2 - $4) applied to each transaction. Please be advised that in most situations, we are unable to process medical credit or debit cards.

Insurance options:

If we accept your insurance most plans offer some kind of mental health coverage. But please be aware  if you have a deductible that must first be met before insurance will pay claims. It is important to also know when your deductible restarts because not all plans operate based on a calendar year.

Accepted carriers are:

  • Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • State of CT (e.g., Husky)
  • Cigna
  • Healthy CT

If you have insurance with another carrier your policy may have out-of-network benefits that we are able to access. If you contact us directly we can verify if your benefits will cover services and what percentage of the fee is covered by your particular plan. However, if you are able to pay directly for services, there are several advantages to not using insurance.

First, insurance companies will not reimburse claims unless you have a diagnosable mental disorder. Therefore, if insurance is to be used, a mental health diagnosis is required from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Moreover, insurance companies may also required that additional clinical information is provided, such as treatment plans or summaries, or copies of your entire Clinical Record. In such situations, every effort is made to release only the minimum information about you that is necessary for the purpose requested, but this information will become part of the insurance company files and will probably be stored in a computer. Though all insurance companies claim to keep such information confidential, I have no control over what they do with it once it is in their hands. In some cases, they may share the information with a national medical information databank.

Second, by utilizing your health insurance plan you are agreeing to the mandates that health insurance impose on what is considered acceptable treatment including the length of treatment. Many plans require authorization before they provide reimbursement for mental health services and such plans are often limited to short-term treatment approaches that restrict the number of approved sessions.

Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you can’t make your appointment. If you miss your appointment and fail to notify us, we will bill you for the full cost of the session.
